Sea to Sky Outdoor School was established in 1992 by Tim Turner and Wendy Miller.
Based on the Sunshine Coast, Tim and Wendy have provided leadership and expertise to this educational organization from its inception.
Their complementary skills afford Sea to Sky Outdoor School strong and versatile management and contribute to the professionalism and excellence of Sea to Sky programs.
Tim graduated from Queen's University in 1982 with a teaching degree specializing in Outdoor and Experiential Education. Tim began his teaching career at St. Georges School in Vancouver where he taught Geography and Geology 12, Social Studies 9/10 and a locally developed program of environmental science for grade 8 students. In addition to these classroom responsibilities he co-directed the outdoor education program for the senior school. With eight years of classroom experience, including a one year teaching assignment in New Zealand, Tim moved on to public education contracts with Environment Canada. He was a member of the Howe Sound Round Table, the Board Chair of the Sunshine Coast Recycling Society and author of numerous articles for provincial and national environmental education journals.
Wendy graduated from Queen's University in 1977 with a BSc in Occupational Therapy and in 1987 completed a MSc in Health Services Planning and Administration from the University of British Columbia. She worked for a number of years as a management and planning consultant and served as a director on various community boards. For 6 years, she took on a leadership role as Chief Executive Officer for the Sunshine Coast Health Council, the local health authority. Since 2002, Wendy has applied her planning and management skills to Sea to Sky on a full time basis. She is committed to quality and excellence, both in the operation of Sea to Sky Outdoor School and in its leadership role in sustainability education.
Tim and Wendy live in Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast. They spend as much time in wild places as community life, family and work allow.
